Interview

Hi Diego, thank you for your time! We are very excited to hear what you have to say! Let’s start with a first question: How many marathons have you run?

Hello Laura, I have already run 3 marathons. The first one was in Brussels, the second one in Paris, and the last one was in Madrid.

Which one was the hardest to run, and why?

The hardest one was the first one because I was not prepared at all. I thought that with my sportive background I could run a marathon without preparation but that was the worst mistake ever.

Why do you run marathons?

Because I like challenges and a marathon is a big challenge. I really liked the feeling after running my first marathon, that’s why I decided to run another one.

Were you better prepared for the second one?

Yes, definitely. I was very well-prepared for the second one, which was in Paris. I think that preparation is 80% of the key to success.

What is a good preparation plan according to you?

For me a good preparation plan is to run four times a week, eat well and rest well because it takes a lot of energy to complete the preparation. For example, in one week, I recommend running twice slowly but long distances, another run faster than the actual pace you will run in the marathon, and the last run on a street with hills to prepare your heartbeat.

What advice would you give someone who is going to run a marathon?

For first-time marathon runners, I recommend running one where the route is flat and having good marathon shoes. Go to a good store with a lot of options for shoes, clothes, and nutritions, and test them before the race.

Thank you so much, Diego, for this interview, and good luck with your next marathons.
